Giving What We Can
Giving What We Can: Rutgers and the Philosophy Department are excited to host a free lecture by Larry Temkin (a star professor in the Rutgers Philosophy Department) and Toby Ord (an Oxford philosopher and the founder of the Giving What We Can movement).
Their talk, "Global Poverty: Why Should We Care and What Can We Do About It?", will be a powerful and thought-provoking call to action. Come learn how you can make a real difference in the fight against poverty.

About our speakers:
Professor Temkin is considered a leading thinker on one of the key issues of our time - equality. He has held visiting appointments at Oxford, Harvard, the National Humanities Center, and the Australian National University, and has advised the World Health Organization and the World Bank on global inequality. Professor Temkin has received numerous teaching awards from alumni, peers, and the American Philosophical Association. He was recently profiled on the Rutgers University website for his outstanding teaching and scholarship.
Toby Ord is a philosopher at Oxford University and the founder of Giving What We Can, an international organization promoting effective philanthropy targeted at eliminating poverty in the developing world. Its members pledge to give 10% of their income to the organizations that best serve this purpose. In the year since its inception, over 90 people have taken the pledge, together committing over $27 million.
